Upper Mustang Trekking is an adventurous and unique trekking destination in Nepal that offers a glimpse into the ancient kingdom of Mustang. The trek takes you through the beautiful landscape of the Mustang region, which is a hidden gem nestled between the Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau. The trek offers a combination of stunning scenery, unique culture, and history that is unlike any other trekking destination in Nepal.

The trek starts with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Jomsom, a small town in the Mustang region. From Jomsom, the trek takes you through the beautiful Kali Gandaki Valley, which is famous for its dramatic landscapes, including deep gorges, canyons, and rock formations. The trek also takes you through several traditional villages, including Kagbeni, which is the gateway to the Upper Mustang region.

The Upper Mustang region is a unique and isolated region that was closed off to tourists until 1992. It is an area that is steeped in history and culture and has preserved its ancient traditions and customs. The region is home to the Lo-Manthang, the former capital of the Kingdom of Mustang, which is a walled city with ancient monasteries, palaces, and traditional mud-brick houses.

The trek offers stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayas, including Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters/26,795 feet) and Annapurna (8,091 meters/26,545 feet), as well as the unique landscapes of the Mustang region, including the barren landscape, red cliffs, and unique rock formations. The region is also home to several ancient monasteries, including the Thubchen Gompa and Jampa Gompa, which are important centers of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Upper Mustang Trek is a moderate to challenging trek that can take 12-16 days, depending on the route and acclimatization needs. The best time to trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons when the weather is stable and the views are clear.

Along the way, you'll stay in tea houses or lodges that offer basic accommodation and meals. It is recommended that you hire a guide or join a guided trek for safety and convenience, as the region is remote and requires special permits.

The Upper Mustang Trek is a unique and adventurous trekking destination that offers a glimpse into the ancient kingdom of Mustang. It is a must-do trek for adventure seekers and cultural enthusiasts, and offers an opportunity to witness some of the world's most stunning natural and cultural wonders.
